Historic Surrey garden
A sympathetic but contemporary redesign of a historic Arts and Crafts garden in Surrey.
The design for this garden references the rich history of the site while looking to create a practical space for the current owner. It balances the wilder woodland section of the garden with a series of formal spaces which connect it to the house.
The different garden rooms each offer a different atmosphere and purpose. The sunken pond garden offering a quiet and contemplative space.
The planting around the pergola provides a nostalgic cottage garden atmosphere, but with the use of modern plant varieties to extend the flowering season . Peonies and roses in early summer give way to the sumptuous bloom of hydrangeas.
